This is the Second Regional Conference on Women in Physics (RCWIPN 2019) that takes place from 27 to 29 March 2019 at Kathmandu University, Dhulikhel, Nepal. The first regional conference of this series was held in Pakistan in 2016. We, the Nepalese Society for Women in Physics (NSWIP) in association with Tri-Chandra Multiple Campus, Tribhuvan University are hosting the conference. The main objective of the conference, adhering to IUPAP principle ‘Universal access to and Participation in science’, is ‘Fostering Professional Development and Nurturing Future Women Leaders’. The conference provides an opportunity to share the scientific accomplishments of participants as well as analyzing regional progress in promoting women in physics. Conference will be participated by government officials as well as top women physicists of the region.

  • Registration Fee: USD 150 for foreign and Rs 5000 for Nepalese participants
  • Student Registration Fee: USD 100 for foreign and Rs 3000 for Nepalese
  • The student registration fee is subject to submission of proof of current (2018) registration for degree at a recognized university.
  • Undergraduate students must provide an official letter from their institution signed by the Head of the Institution verifying their status as a Full Time student and it must be submitted when registering.

The delegate registration fee includes participation in all sessions, access to all posters and exhibitions during the conference, conference bag, name badge, conference proceedings, coffee & tea during the official session breaks and lunch during the conference.

The IUPAP Working Group tries supports a significant number of delegates from developing countries. Grant applications for 2019 are due by March 8, 2019 only and grant applications should be sent to Since RCWIPN 2019 is being held before the time frame of grant application for 2019, any one receiving a grant will have to be reimbursed after the conference.

Getting Here

Kathmandu University is located to 30 KM east of Kathmandu city at Dhulikhel town. At Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) prepaid taxi service is available at arrival gate. Visas are required for all foreigners wishing to enter into Nepal except for Indian nationalities. It is advisable that you fill up the disembarkation card in the aircraft itself before disembarking to avoid wasting time filing it at the arrival counter. Local Information

Dhulikhel is home to Kathmandu University and has numbers of hotels, resorts and restaurants. The town is a basically one of the finest tourist destinations of Nepal. The panoramic view of majestic Himalayan range and sunrise over mountains from this tourist spot is spellbinding to all the tourists. Major business of this town is tourism.

Time Difference : Nepal is 5 hours and 45 minutes behind the Greenwich Mean Time.

Foreign Exchange & Money Matters

Nepalese currency is Rupees. One Rupee is equals to 100 paisa. International abbreviation of the currency is NRP. However locally known as Rs or NRs. Currency denominations in circulation are Rs 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 500 & 1000. With a favorable exchange rate for many international currencies, delegates will find Nepal a very inexpensive destination. For example, 1 US Dollar is equivalent to Rs 115. Cost of one liter petrol is Rs 115 or 1 US Dollar.

Nepalese banks are open from 10:00AM till 3:00PM from Sunday through Friday.

Almost all banks have branch offices in every part of the country. Visa and Master cards are widely accepted in shops, restaurants, hotels and resorts. ATMs are found in all bank branch offices.


Kathmandu and Dhulikhel both experience warm and sunny days throughout March. You can experience good amount of sunshine, about 8 to 9 hours a day. The average day time temperature generally hovers around a pleasant 26 o C (79 o F) whereas the average minimum temperatures generally drops down to 5 o C (41 o F). The nights can be very chilly, so it is advisable to carry some warm clothing.

Country Papers

  • The Country Paper should report the status of Women in Physics
  • The paper should be coordinated by the Country Team

  • Country papers will be presented in the form of posters, oral and Skype presentation

Scientific Papers

  • Scientific papers on any related physics will be presented in the form of oral and poster
  • Submit scientific abstracts through email, or


  • Abstract of country and scientific paper will be published in the abstract book of the program
  • Accepted scientific paper abstracts and full paper on women in physics will be published in the Conference Proceedings
  • Selected papers on women in physics will be published in the Canadian Journal of Physics.


Female students, graduate/post graduate Academic/Administrative/ Education etc. major with Physics. Women faculty and Chairpersons of Physics Department (Male or Female) in institution in the region may come for participation in the event.
